goLSN vs UCSales

goLSN vs UCSales

Our website offers a great review on goLSN classifieds and UCSales.com classifieds and auctions. Both are great services with many great features. go LSN Classifieds is a veteran in the classifieds game while UCSales.com is a new comer. Below is a comparison of the sites.

Visit Today - ucsales.com

Even though UCSales.com is a newly developed classifieds and auctions website. This site is a powerful online classifieds and auctions site. The site offers customers the ability to create a storefront and to display only their listings along with auctions. The colors and layout is visually appealing and looks professional too. The overall look and feel to this site gets the nod here. The biggest advantage of this site is it allows its users to post firearms, where as, goLSN is supported by Google Adsense, therefore, by allowing a firearms section would go against Google’s Terms of Service (TOS). UCSales.com is truly sponsored by local businesses and does not use Google Adsense on its site.

goLSN

While the visual aspect goes to the previous site, the content goes to this website. However, that is partly due to the fact, goLSN Classifieds has been around for a while now and has established a bigger customer base. However, the lack of a firearms section may hinder their full potential in the Mid-South and Upper Cumberland area. If you are looking for a site to list your firearms, then UCSales.com is the place for you.

Shopping for quality fruit

Good fruit is hard to find. Fruit quality and price varies with the seasons. However, fruit consumption doesn’t have to do the same. Follow these guidelines to have the fruit you want all year long, at the price you can afford.

  1. Compare prices on fruit. If your farmers market is closed down for the season, compare prices at local grocery stores to get the best price. You may find that Kroger has the cheapest prices for all of your frozen and canned items but the Aldi across the road may have the best fruit deals. Remember to match prices per pound or per ounce across the board, to ensure you are saving the most money possible. The same rule applies in buying fresh, frozen or canned fruit.
  2. Don’t be afraid to store your fruit for later in the year. Different fruits can be canned or frozen. Blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries can be picked by the gallons in season and frozen to supply the rest of the year. Research the internet, farmers’ market vendors, and other resources to get all the information on what fruit to store, when and how.
  3. Canned fruit is always an easy alternative. Fresh fruit is preferable for most people due to taste and nutrition but canned fruit can be a healthy alternative. More fruits are being canned in juice instead of syrups. Fruit canned in its own juice increases the flavor while decreasing caloric and sugar values.  Also, since fruit is typically canned at the point of ripeness, it may even be a tastier option than fresh fruit purchased out of season, which can be bitter or sour.

Whatever your need may be, don’t let fruit be an obstacle in your diet or cooking. It can be a staple in your home all year long. Just remember to be resourceful with storage methods and savvy with price matching.

How to coupon the right way

Couponing can be compared to a mirage in the desert. It looks fantastic but the discounts of extreme couponers are not normally real for everyday, working people. Most households are trying to achieve any amount of savings on groceries in these economic times. For beginning couponers, try these steps to start your savings without being overwhelmed.

  1. Research the coupon policies at local grocery and retail stores. You need to know the guidelines specific to the stores you plan on using most. These policies can be located on the stores’ websites or by calling management at the store. Policies are always subject to change, so it’s a good idea to check for changes on a regular basis.
  2. Determine which means of gathering coupons is best for you. Ask yourself if you are looking for savings on specific items such as diapers, cleaning supplies, etc or on specific brands, such as Clorox, Comet, Huggies, etc. If so, it may be best to order those specific coupons online at various coupon databases or sellers. If you are looking for an overall savings on all items without regard for brands, the newspaper may be more appropriate. The internet is a great resource regardless of goals, as coupons can be printed online for almost anything.
  3. Start small. Buying 1 newspaper per week or purchasing coupons for a few items per week can you get started on using coupons. Starting small allows you to familiarize yourself with the transactions of using coupons, adhering to expiration dates, and learning how to maximize savings. Easing into couponing, avoids discouragement and anxiety for the shopper and increases likelihood of continued couponing and thus household savings.

Remember, any savings for your household is better than none. Couponing is a process that takes time and preparation. To get started, check out our extensive list of money saving coupons. As your knowledge of couponing increases, so will your savings!

4 Yard Sale Tips

Yard sales are growing ever more popular in our current economy. Yard sales are a means to make money on your own unwanted items and to buy all your own needs for a cheaper price than retail. Here are a few tips for scoring big on yard sale adventures:

  1. Make a list. Before starting on your search, make a list of items you are looking for. The list will keep you focused on what you need and prevent you from buying items that will end up in a yard sale one year later. It helps to do a walk through in your home and garage to recall needs or desired items that you may not normally think of. Such as organizers, hedge trimmers, mirrors, windows, etc.
  2. Don’t settle for the price on the tag. Most people are trying to get rid of their items and would prefer to take less money than to re store the item or travel to a donation center. So offer a more reasonable price and see what happens. Also, decide beforehand if you will pay the price on the tag or not, this will show confidence to the seller. Your decided “no thanks”, may sway the seller to accept less money at the last minute.
  3. Look at the potential of items not what you actually see. That old worn out chair with the torn fabric may become the center piece of a living room. New paint and fabric can make older items look priceless. Items are flexible and can be changed to match your style and personal décor.
  4. Last, make your vehicle yard sale ready. Pack ropes for securing loose items and blankets if you are looking for furniture. The blankets will prevent scratches from furniture rubbing the sides of your auto. And most importantly, bring cash, especially ones. Small bills make transactions easier for the seller and yourself.
